Zenith Space Command

So, I have a new obsession. Namely The Space Command line of Zenith Televisions from the mid 1950s until the late 1970s. They're pretty sweet as they use a technology that Zenith developed, the Space Commander ultrasonic Remote Control. The remote technology which you can learn more about here (http://www.pushclicktouch.com/2007/03/28/zenith-space-command-the-first-20-years/) uses ultrasonic sound to control the TV. Here's a picture of one of the SC remotes that I have.

I currently do not have any Zenith Space Command TV sets, but I do have a Sears ultrasonic Remote TV set, and hope to get at least one Zenith SC TV set in the future. If you're interested in learning more about Zenith TVs of this period, I highly suggest checking out Doug's videos on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=drh4683.

Have a lovely day everybody.

So I bought an old TV!

Yeah, you read that right.

So, I was at my church's annual yard sale, and I happened upon this:

Yeah, it's an old TV, specifically a Sears Solid State Remote Television model 564-4035. I love it, it was made in December 1976 so as a remote TV made prior to the early 80s, it uses an Ultrasonic Remote. So, it didn't come with it's remote for the 5 dollars I spent on it, so now I need to find one for it. Fortunately I've been told that I can likely get any ultrasonic remote and probably be able to at least partially control the TV.

Also, click on the image and check out that styling, it really embraced the ideals of the remote by hiding all of the functions except the power button behind a door. Anyway, I like it and that's all I can worry about.

Stay classy internet (oh, and leave me a comment if you're one of the very few people who reads this.)
